Motorcyclist dies in crash on I-15
A motorcyclist died on Interstate 15 tonight after he lost control of his bike and was thrown into oncoming traffic, said the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The unidentified man was southbound on I-15 near Lake Mead Boulevard about 7:30 p.m. when his bike hit a concrete median. He was ejected into northbound traffic where he was struck by a car, said Trooper Kevin Honea. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
Witnesses told the highway patrol that the motorcyclist had been zigzagging around traffic at a high rate of speed.
Honea said it’s unknown why the motorcyclist lost control, but that it did not appear drugs or alcohol was a factor. An investigation into the fatality is ongoing. The victim was wearing a helmet.
