Arizona couple aboard plane in Idaho crash

A northwest Arizona couple was aboard a Cessna 182 that crashed in the Cabinet Mountains near the town of Hope, Idaho, on Thursday, the Bonner County Sheriff's Office confirmed Tuesday.

An agency news release indicated the airplane's emergency locator transmitter beacon activated at 8:26 a.m, just 10 minutes after takeoff from Bird Field, bound for Minot, N.D.

Authorities recovered the remains of the pilot, Dr. Pamela Bird, 58, of Sandpoint, Idaho, and front-seat passenger Tookie Hensley, 80, of Mohave Valley, Airz. The Sheriff's Office said Hensley's husband, Donald, 84, was also aboard the aircraft but that his remains were not initially recovered.

The agency declined to clarify whether any search for Donald Hensley's remains was ongoing or suspended. The crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
