Arizona prison lockdown lifted after Saturday fight

The lockdown has been lifted at the privately operated state prison in Golden Valley where an estimated 100 inmates were involved in a racially divided fistfight Saturday morning.
Warden Jeff Wrigley said the final housing unit subjected to the lockdown at the Arizona State Prison Complex near Kingman was returned to normal status at noon Wednesday.
Wrigley said the most seriously injured inmate in the weekend melee is still being treated for broken ribs in a Kingman medical facility. Wrigley said an investigation continues but that he doesn’t expect any inmates to be charged for the fight between white and Hispanic inmates.
Wrigley noted that altercations are common in prisons and that there was nothing unusual about the weekend violence.
He acknowledged, however, that he understood public concern and interest given highly publicized rioting that left more than a dozen injured and more than $2 million in criminal damage at the same prison in July 2015.
