Florida deputy praised after saving unresponsive baby’s life

OCALA, Fla. — A Florida sheriff’s deputy is credited with saving a baby’s life after rushing the unresponsive infant to a hospital.

The Ocala StarBanner reports the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement that K9 Deputy Jeremie Nix saved the baby Wednesday. The release says Nix was driving home when he was flagged down by a passing car. Dashcam footage shows the two cars pulling over and a woman handing Nix a baby.

The woman, Nechole Crowell, said her 3-month-old son Kingston was unresponsive. Nix attempted to revive Kingston before telling dispatch he was going to a hospital and wasn’t going to wait for an ambulance.

Kingston is doing well. Crowell thanked Nix and God on Facebook Thursday. She said “not all officers are bad, he’s one of many good guys.”
