Hundreds evacuated from Ariz. hotel by fire

PHOENIX — A Phoenix hotel is working to relocate hundreds of guests after a fire triggered an evacuation Saturday morning.

Shanna Wolfe, a spokeswoman for Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel, says guests as well as hotel staff were safe after a fire erupted around 11 a.m.

Dozens of firefighters responded to the scene.

They say it appears an electrical fire broke out on the first floor.

Wolfe says some guests who need to leave or get to their vehicles are being escorted to their rooms to fetch their belongings.

Other guests will have the option of heading to another hotel.

Situated in the center of downtown next to the city convention center, the Sheraton has about 1,000 rooms and 80,000 square feet of meeting space.
