Man linked to Oregon high school shooting arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police say a 22-year-old man arrested in connection with a shooting outside an alternative high school was known to gang investigators.

Sgt. Pete Simpson didn’t elaborate Saturday on what that meant. He says Lonzo Murphy is a “person of interest” in the Friday shooting, but officers aren’t prepared to say whether he was the gunman.

Simpson says authorities are trying to find two other people connected to the shooting near Rosemary Anderson High School that hospitalized three people. A 16-year-old girl was critically wounded. A fourth person was grazed by a bullet but didn’t go to a hospital.

Simpson says two of the victims have ties to gangs. The victims are students or in affiliated job training programs.

Murphy was arrested on a parole violation and could face additional charges.
