Motorist flees Nevada, kills self in Arizona, police say

Investigators said a Lake Havasu City, Ariz., woman took her own life after a police pursuit on U.S. Highway 93.

Mohave County Sheriff's Office involvement began Saturday afternoon when dispatchers were advised that a Nevada Highway Patrol pursuit of a Dodge Dart that had been reported stolen was proceeding south into Arizona.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said the Dart, driven by Nicolette Alexzandranne Avery, 28, ran out of gas on U.S. 93 and came to a stop about 33 miles south of the border.

It is believed that Avery shot herself in the car.

An unidentified male who occupied the vehicle was uninjured.
