Review-Journal videographer nominated for 2 regional Emmys

Las Vegas Review-Journal videographer Rachel Aston has been nominated for two regional Emmys.

Aston was recognized for “Chaos Itself,” her profile of Ricky Lee Cole, a Las Vegan who has lived in the city’s flood tunnels on and off for 20 years, and for “Brothers Are Radically Superb,” which highlighted what she called “the cringe-inspiring beauty” of the troupe of bone-breaking dancers.

Both videos are part of her recurring Vegas Stripped feature, in which she humanizes the city by showcasing the diversity of the people who call Las Vegas home.

The 42nd Annual Pacific Southwest Emmy Awards will be presented June 11th in Palm Springs, California. The awards honor video content produced in Las Vegas as well as the California cities of San Diego, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Santa Maria.

Review-Journal employees have won two previous Emmys. John Locher was honored in 2014 for his video essay “Double Helix.” Justin Yurkanin took home an Emmy in 2012 for his investigative report “Deadly Force: When Las Vegas Police Shoot, and Kill.”
