Natural gas line would run across northern Elko County

ELKO -- The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to link the Ruby Valley Pipeline to a mine site in northern Elko County.
The BLM says a 24-mile natural gas line would run from a main line valve on the Ruby Valley Pipeline near Willow Creek Reservoir to a Barrick Goldstrike mill.
Agency officials said they have been coordinating with Sacramento-based Energy Operations Management to identify a route that would minimize affects to sage grouse leks, as well as cultural and natural resources.
Public comments will be accepted through Feb. 29.
