BURBANK, Calif. - A Southwest Airlines flight from Burbank to Las Vegas was aborted Monday because an unusual noise was heard in the back of the plane during takeoff, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.
Airline spokesman Paul Flaningan said a loud noise was heard from one of the engines of the Boeing 737, so the pilot shut down that engine and returned to Bob Hope Airport.
Flaningan said the aircraft landed without incident.
He said mechanics were inspecting the plane to determine what happened.
The 41 passengers on the flight boarded another plane to Las Vegas.
