One motorcyclist killed, another critically injured in accident
A 22-year-old Las Vegas motorcyclist died Tuesday night when he and another motorcycle rider who were traveling at a high rate of speed struck a 2004 Mercedes Benz C230K turning in front of them on Sahara Avenue at Edmond Street, according to Las Vegas police.
The man was traveling west on Sahara about 8 p.m. on a 2006 Kawasaki ZX10R motorcycle along with a 20-year-old man riding a 2007 Suzuki GSXR1000. Witnesses said the pair were doing wheelies.
The Mercedes, traveling east on Sahara Avenue, was struck by both motorcycles as it started to make a left turn on Edmond, police said.
The Kawasaki operator slid in a westerly direction before coming to rest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other motorcycle rider was taken to University Medical Center after suffering critical injuries.
