Other missing northern Nevada prison inmate captured

RENO, Nev. — Authorities say a second inmate who walked away from a northern Nevada prison work assignment has been recaptured.

Sparks police Lt. John Franz tells KRNV-TV in Reno that 26-year-old Corey William Gomez was arrested Saturday at an apartment complex in Sparks.

The Nevada Department of Corrections announced Friday that 23-year-old Dustin Cottiero was arrested in Reno.

Gomez and Cottiero were reported missing Wednesday from a Nevada Division of Forestry project near Interstate 80 and McCarran Boulevard.

Gomez had been serving three to eight years on burglary and resisting an officer convictions in Clark County.

Cottiero was serving one to three years on an attempted burglary conviction in Washoe County.

Both now also face escape charges, and police say Cotierro also faces drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer charges.
