Pedestrian fatality closes westbound Charleston Boulevard at Durango Drive

A pedestrian died after being struck by a car Wednesday night in the area of Charleston Boulevard and Durango Drive.

The 60-year-old male pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center about 6:15 p.m. where he was pronounced dead.

The man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

Both directions of Charleston were closed for hours while Las Vegas police investigated the crash. It was still closed at 10 p.m.

There were no other injuries, and the driver of the Ford Explorer that hit the pedestrian was not cited.

The name of the deceased, cause of death and manner of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Drivers are warned to avoid the area.
