Pilot of small plane dies when aircraft loses power, skips off roof in Minden

MINDEN -- The pilot of a small plane was killed when the aircraft seemed to lose power, skipped off a roof and crashed in Minden.

No one on the ground was injured when the float plane crashed around 3:15 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The name of the pilot was withheld pending notification of relatives.

"I heard a plane that was way too loud. I looked up, and it was right there above my porch," Merry Anderson said. "As I looked up, it went over the garage, and there was a huge plume of dust."

The damage to Anderson's garage was minimal.

An inquiry was being conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration.
