Pit bulls kill 4-month-old girl
A 4-month-old girl was fatally mauled today by her family's two pit bulls, according to the North Las Vegas Fire Department.
The grandmother who was babysitting the child was also bitten when she tried to save her, Capt. Cedric Williams said.
"Somehow the dogs got inside the house," Williams said. "They were the family pets."
Williams said that when police showed up at 1717 Eagle View Way in an effort to save the victims they had to kill the two dogs.
The incident happened at 11:24 a.m.
Williams did not release the name of the child or the grandmother.
Rescue personnel who went to the scene are being offered counseling, Williams said.
