Plane that departed from NLV crashes in Colorado

A twin-engine plane that left from the North Las Vegas Airport crashed in northern Colorado on Friday, killing both people on board.

Allen Kenitzer of the Federal Aviation Administration said the twin-engine Piper PA-60 Aerostar crashed on approach to Mc Elroy Airfield in Kremmling, about 75 miles west of Denver.

Grand County sheriff's officials said the plane burned on impact. Kenitzer said two dogs aboard the plane also were killed. He said the plane took off from North Las Vegas Airport and was registered to BDW Equipment Leasing of Las Vegas.

Records show the company's address as a home in Summerlin, owned by Diane and Floyd Williams. A woman who answered the phone at the home declined to comment on the accident.

The incident was the fourth fatal airplane crash since June of planes leaving the North Las Vegas Airport, and the ninth and 10th deaths out of those crashes.

In June, four people died when a plane crashed at Mount Charleston.

In August, a homemade plane crashed into a North Las Vegas home, killing the pilot and two people inside, and another plane crashed in Las Vegas less than a week later, killing the pilot.
