Police arrest man in drive-by shooting of 8-year-old
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on attempted murder and other charges in the July 25 drive-by shooting that left an 8-year-old boy in critical condition.
Las Vegas police said Carlos Reyes was riding in a car with two other suspects in the area of Kell Lane and Marion Drive when they opened fire on another vehicle. In addition to the attempted murder charge, Reyes faces child endangerment and other counts.
The boy, who had just crossed the street with his 13-year-old sister and three younger siblings, was struck in the chest. He has been hospitalized and is expected to survive.
Police said they have identified the other two suspects. The shooting was over a $200 drug deal where a debt was owed, Lt. Dan McGrath said.
