Police investigating slaying of man in his apartment

North Las Vegas police reported they are investigating the slaying of a 30-year-old man in his apartment last night.

The release said police received report of a gunshot victim at about 10 p.m. Thursday in an apartment located at 3301 Civic Center Drive, near northbound I-15 and Cheyenne Avenue.

According to the release, the victim was standing at his apartment door when he had a brief confrontation with the unidentified suspect through a metal security door.

The suspect fired through the door, fatally striking the victim, the release said. The victim was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead several hours later.

Suspect information is not available at this time, police said. The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the victim.

This is the second homicide reported in North Las Vegas this year.
