Police probe man found dead at motel

A 32-year-old man was found dead early Thursday at the Motel 6 on Tropicana Avenue, just east of the Strip, and Las Vegas police said they believe he was slain.

The cause of death was not released, and authorities withheld his name but said he is believed to be from Northern California.

Police were called about 2:30 a.m. and found the body in a hotel room. The man was last seen alive Wednesday night.

Las Vegas police Sgt. Russ Shoemaker said investigators have little go on but believe the room was thoroughly searched by whomever killed the man. What they were searching for was not known, Shoemaker said.

Anyone with information about the case can call police at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
