Police say suspect in kidnap, assault posed as detective

Las Vegas police are seeking a kidnapping and sexual assault suspect who posed as a detective with a fake badge to gain the trust of the victim.

Late Sunday, the suspect approached a woman near Tropicana Avenue and Wynn Boulevard. He identified himself as a plainclothes vice detective and said he had a gun.

He took the woman to an undisclosed area and assaulted her, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, tall and heavyset. He was dressed in a white shirt, dark pants and beige sport coat or jacket. His hair was short.

The suspect drove a gold or light-colored, four-door sedan.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555, or the Sexual Assault Section at 828-3421.
