Police seek public’s help in slaying

Las Vegas police are searching for a man wanted in connection with drug-related slaying earlier in the month.

It's been two weeks since police issued an arrest warrant for murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon for Jeffrey Yonck. The 37-year-old is accused by police of being the shooter in a July 11 incident that left two men shot in the head. One of the men died.

Police were first notified of the incident about noon that day. That is when they began receiving calls about two cars being driven erratically. Police next received a report of a shooting near the Las Vegas Beltway and Flamingo Road.

Shortly afterward, the driver of one of the two cars called police and said he and a passenger had been shot and were headed to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, San Martin campus.

Once the men reached the hospital, they were rushed by helicopter to the Trauma Center at University Medical Center.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Ronald Richards, was seen throwing a large bag of marijuana into a trash bin before driving himself and the passenger to the hospital.

Richards was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell after he was treated and released from the hospital. The 20-year-old passenger later died.

Police describe Yonck as 6-foot-3 and about 210 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes and might have fled the Las Vegas Valley, authorities said.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the Homicide Section at 828-3521.

What does a Federal Reserve rate cut mean for your finances?

The federal funds rate is the rate at which banks borrow and lend to one another. While the rates consumers pay to borrow money aren’t directly linked to this rate, shifts affect what you pay for credit cards, auto loans, mortgages, and other financial products.
