Puck’s wedding painful for one
July 9, 2007 - 9:00 pm
The 7-7-7 wedding of celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck in Capri, Italy, turned into an unlucky day for a Las Vegas guest.
Lovee Arum, wife of boxing promoter Bob Arum, suffered a serious shoulder injury during a fall on a steep cliff walkway Saturday.
The Arums were among the large Las Vegas contingent that flew to Italy for the wedding of Puck and handbag designer Gelila Assefa, who exchanged vows at 7 p.m. on 7-7-7 on a bluff overlooking the Bay of Naples.
The reception followed at the Grand Hotel Quisisana. The cuisine was catered by Wolfgang using regional fare. The bride wore a J. Mendel couture dress and custom Christian Louboutin shoes.
Las Vegans included Larry and Camille Ruvo, longtime Puck chef David Robins and his wife Ana, Puck executives Joe Essa and Tom Kaplan, who was accompanied by his girlfriend Hannah Kampf, and Robin Leach.
Kaplan was among the groomsmen with Puck's brother, Klaus, along with Robert Kass, whose father Ron Kass was president of Apple Records during The Beatles era and married to Joan Collins.
The accident forced Arum to miss the featherweight fight he was promoting in London today. The Arums canceled their European vacation and were to return to Las Vegas on Tuesday.
TENSE TIMES
Security at OPM nightclub at the Forum Shops at Caesars had some anxious moments early Sunday.
About 2:30 a.m., rivals Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter and Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones entered OPM in separate parties.
Security was immediately beefed up and peace was maintained.
Porter and Jones had a scuffle March 18 at a Palms blackjack table. Porter pleaded no contest recently and paid a $1,000 fine for punching Jones, who was not charged.
THE SCENE AND HEARD
Denise Randazzo, vice president of public relations and advertising at Wynn Las Vegas since it opened, has resigned, effective today, to open her own hotel marketing company, Randazzo Partners.
