Radiation forces workers to abandon Japanese nuclear plant

TOKYO -- Japanese government officials today suspended operations to prevent a nuclear plant from melting down after a surge in radiation made it too dangerous for workers to remain at the facility. The Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant was damaged in Friday's massive earthquake and tsunami killed an estimated 10,000 people.
