Rare warning comes, goes without tornado

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas issued a tornado warning at 5:38 p.m. Friday for the southwest portion of Clark County.

Charlie Schlott, a meteorologist, said the radar was picking up the signatures of a potential tornado in a storm that passed over Sandy Valley on Friday evening.

He said the warning was lifted at 6:05 p.m., and there were no reports of a tornado from Sandy Valley residents.

Schlott said tornado warnings are not common in the area, and he couldn't recall the last time one was issued.
