Reno man, 41, arrested in fatal hit-and-run accident

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian in Reno last week.

Police Sgt. Jim Stegmaier said a Secret Witness tip by a citizen led investigators to Baljit Singh of Reno, who was booked Saturday into the Washoe County jail on a charge of hit and run causing death.

Stegmaier said evidence tied the vehicle to the accident, and Singh told detectives that he fled the scene after getting scared. The vehicle had visible damage to the front end.

Police said the pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday night while possibly walking in the roadway near Rock and McCarran boulevards.

The victim's name has not been released.
