Reputed gang member arrested in Atlanta in Las Vegas biker attack

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Atlanta on Thursday arrested a reputed motorcycle gang member wanted on charges including attempted murder in Las Vegas.

Richard B. Allen, 50, was arrested at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport when he arrived from Caracas, Venezuela, U.S. government officials said. He faces extradition to Nevada, Las Vegas police said Friday.

At the time of his arrest, Allen was returning to Las Vegas in order to surrender to police, according to his lawyer, Brian J. Smith. "He's looking forward to his day in court," Smith said.

Police accuse Allen, who is alleged to be a member of the Bandidos motorcycle gang, of being involved in an attack on two members of the Flaming Knights motorcycle club outside a sports bar during the early hours of June 7.

According to police reports, the victims were attacked because their red and gold motorcycle club colors too closely matched the colors from the suspects' gangs.

The attack occurred outside Mr. D's Sportsbar and Grill at 1810 S. Rainbow Blvd., at Oakey Boulevard, police said. The owner told detectives that the bar was a popular hangout for the Bandidos and the Down and Dirty Outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Ten gang members were arrested this month in connection with the attacks.
