Salt Lake area residents lose power after windstorm

SALT LAKE CITY -- Wind gusts of more than 75 mph left about 12,000 homes and businesses without power across northern Utah's Wasatch Front late Sunday.

Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen said power was being returned to some locations, but some customers may have been without electricity overnight.

Outages were reported in Salt Lake City, Riverdale and Bountiful.
