If star power is considered renewable, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid just upped the wattage on his annual clean energy summit.
Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also dabbles in acting from time to time, was added Friday to the slate of speakers for the sixth annual National Clean Energy Summit.
The Reid-organized event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
According to Friday’s announcement, Schwarzenegger is expected to add a regional perspective on this year’s theme, “Energizing Tomorrow,” which focuses on “the importance of making clean energy choices that will have a positive effect on the future.”
The conference will feature clean energy innovators and policymakers in five panel discussions ranging from surveys of current green energy trends and technologies to one topic that speaks particularly to Las Vegas — adapting to extreme weather-related events such as droughts and wildfires.
Reid, D-Nev., will deliver opening remarks before introducing keynote speakers Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Jon Wellinghoff.
