Smith arts center receives $100,000 donation from Citigroup

Citigroup Chief Executive Officer Vikram Pandit presented the Smith Center for the Performing Arts with a $100,000 contribution Tuesday.

The donation supports the Southern Nevada Wolf Trap Early Learning Through the Arts program.

"The Smith Center has provided important arts-based education to the local community since its inception, and, following the opening of a physical site, will be the cornerstone to revitalizing downtown Las Vegas," Steve Garofalo, Citi Nevada Site president, said in a statement.

The Smith Center will occupy 4.75 acres at Bonneville Avenue and Grand Central Parkway.

Pandit met Tuesday morning with the 1,700 employees at Citibank's credit card center to show his commitment to the Nevada operations, outline the bank holding company's progress and to hear about work in Las Vegas.
