St. George man killed in rollover on Utah-Arizona border

A single-vehicle rollover resulting in a fatality 3 miles south of the Utah-Arizona border is under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

Agency spokeswoman Trish Carter said nearby deputies responded at 5:22 p.m. Monday when they saw a cloud of dust a few blocks away on the Mount Trumbull Loop, due south of St. George, Utah.

Carter said the deputies discovered a Ford Expedition had rolled off the roadway. The driver, Matthew Harris Putnam, 47, of St. George, was declared dead at the scene after CPR efforts were unsuccessful, she said.

An autopsy is pending.
