Suspect in assaults pleads not guilty
The Boulder City teacher and foster parent accused of sexually assaulting and videotaping young boys pleaded not guilty Thursday before Hearing Master Kevin Williams.
Charles Rogers, 46, was arraigned in a short hearing. Several people attended the court hearing to support Rogers but declined to comment.
Rogers answered "not guilty" when asked about the charges against him but said little else.
A grand jury indicted Rogers last week of 76 criminal counts, including sexual assault, lewdness with a minor, possession of child pornography and other crimes against children. The indictment said some of the victims seen in photos and DVDs are as young as 6 and 7.
Authorities said Rogers gained access to some of the boys by hosting sleepovers at his home and either drugged them or plied them with alcohol.
Police arrested Charles in March. He is being held at the county jail on $1.3 million bail, an amount his attorney previously said is too high for Rogers to make.
Rogers taught at Garrett Middle School in Boulder City. He also taught at McCaw Elementary School and Taylor Elementary School in Henderson.
