Tahoe agency hires part-time official

INCLINE VILLAGE -- The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has hired a part-time chief operating officer to help implement its new strategy to emphasize cooperation over regulation.

Ed Gurowitz is a management consultant in Incline Village with a post-graduate degree in psychology. He's also a former columnist for the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza. Gurowitz tells the newspaper he's looking forward to helping TRPA become more customer focused with a reputation for saying "yes rather than no."

TRPA Executive Director Joanne Marchetta also announced the hiring of a new public information officer for the bi-state agency created to help protect the lake. Kristi Boosman is a communications consultant from central Washington. Her recent work includes a community outreach campaign for the Public Broadcasting Service in Seattle.

She replaces Dennis Oliver, who died last November.
