Teacher pleads not guilty to sexual assault, lewdness charges

The Boulder City teacher and foster parent accused of sexually assaulting and videotaping young boys pleaded not guilty today in court.

Charles Rogers, 46, was arraigned in a short hearing. Several people sat in the audience to support Rogers but declined to comment.

A grand jury indicted Rogers last week of 76 criminal counts, including sexual assault, lewdness with a minor, possession of child pornography and other crimes against children. Some alleged victims seen in photos and DVDs are as young as 6 and 7.

Authorities said Rogers gained access to some of the boys by hosting sleepovers at his home and either drugged them or plied them with alcohol.

Rogers taught at Garrett Middle School in Boulder City. He also taught at two Henderson schools.
