Teen who died while cliff diving at Lake Mohave identified

The teenager who died in a Saturday cliff diving accident at Lake Mohave was Dean Alan Berhow Jr. of Pahrump, the National Park Service said Monday.

Park service spokesman Andrew Munoz said Berhow, 18, dived into the water about 4:30 p.m. from a height of 30 feet and was struck by a friend who jumped in on top of him before he cleared the area.

He said Berhow's friends told rangers they were unable to rescue him as he rapidly sank beneath the surface near Placer Cove.

Divers recovered Berhow's body about 10:30 p.m. from about 50 feet of water.
