Texas woman accused of burning boys’ tongues facing nearly 30 abuse charges

BURKBURNETT, Texas — Police have filed additional charges against a Texas woman accused of punishing her stepchildren by burning their tongues with a lighter and making them drink a concoction that caused them to vomit.

Twenty-four-year-old Sara Woody now is facing nearly 30 abuse charges.

Police Detective Donald Osborn in Burkburnett, north of Wichita Falls on the Oklahoma border, says Woody also made the two boys lick dirty toilet rims.

Osborn says the case began in March when one of the boys was brought to a hospital with an injury.

Woody was held Friday at the Wichita County jail on a $3 million bond. Her husband, 34-year-old Jonathan Woody, is facing four charges and also is being held.

Online jail records did not indicate an attorney who could speak on their behalf.
