There’s little TLC for ‘Sin City Rules’
The unrelenting catfight chronicles also known as "Sin City Rules" is heading for an early demise.
Responding to a fan's question on Twitter late Friday, cast member Lana Fuchs confirmed the TLC reality show is off the air, with the remaining three episodes to be shown online. In recent days, "Sin City Rules" was missing from the network's television lineup.
Fuchs, who established the show's edgy tone with her attacks on former TV entertainment reporter Alicia Jacobs, tweeted that the rest of the series will be seen on TLC.com, with episode 6 going up Tuesday, episode 7 on Jan. 16 and episode 8 on Jan. 23.
After a month of low ratings, TLC moved the show from Sundays to Tuesdays last week.
CELINE'S SUCCESS
Celine Dion's new French-language album is translating into big numbers, setting the stage for her first English-language album in 5½ years.
Sony executives are gathering in Las Vegas on Wednesday during the Consumer Electronics Show to finalize plans for the April release of the English-language album, which was recorded at the Palms and in Florida.
The album title will be settled at the meeting, said Rene Angelil, Dion's husband and business manager.
"We have a few titles in mind," he said.
Sales for Dion's last English-language album, "Taking Chances," topped 1 million.
Sales for "Sans Attendre" (Without Waiting) have surged past 1 million since its Nov. 2 release by Columbia Records. Dion was in Paris last month to promote it.
Selling 1 million French-language albums is "absolutely amazing," at a time when it's hard to sell records, Angelil said.
RUDY'S STORY
When Notre Dame legend Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger answered the telephone Saturday, with a Miami party raging in the background, one couldn't help but imagine the famous company he was keeping.
As he stepped outside to take the call, my mind raced with possibilities attending the BCS championship game between the Fighting Irish and Alabama: Joe Theismann? Or Irish boosters Regis Philbin and George Wendt?
None of the above. He was at a charity tailgate party promoting Alabama's seafood industry.
"Forrest Gump versus Rudy," he said with a laugh.
With Notre Dame seeking its first national championship since 1988, Ruettiger is getting invites from everywhere, even the enemy. The 20-year resident of Henderson is enjoying his new popularity .
Notre Dame's football revival couldn't have come at a better time for the 5-foot-6-inch former walk-on practice player who became a folk hero when he got a sack against Georgia Tech on the final play of Notre Dame's last home game of 1975.
Ruettiger scheduled a 12-state tour in 2012 to promote his book, "Rudy: My Story," which explains how the 1993 hit film "Rudy" was made. Then along came Notre Dame's comeback.
It took 10 years to make the movie.
"Notre Dame kept saying no," said Ruettiger, a longtime motivational speaker.
Irish luck played a part in getting the film made. The Hollywood executive who finally approved making the movie had been a walk-on at Michigan State.
