Track woes continue

First, a pothole at the Daytona 500.

Then a bumpy, ill-prepared dragstrip at Firebird International Raceway the following week.

The latest, a front stretch on the streets of Sao Paul that was too slick for the IndyCar opener this weekend. It had to be ground Saturday night that delayed qualifying to race morning.

And someone forgets to clean up the concrete dust?

A pair of crashes at the first turn that involved five cars gets the IndyCar season started. The tail end of the crash left one car on top of Marco Andretti’s. A contributing factor seemed to be from the zero visibility from the concrete dust for cars midpack and back.

Why can’t race officials do a better job of inspecting tracks before the race weekend?

It was an entertaining race, especially when they tried to race in a downpour. Gotta love rain tires.

Will Power won. He also won the Las Vegas Grand Prix a few years ago.

Medlen leaves Force

Veteran crew chief John Medlen left John Force Racing this week to join rival Don Schumacher Racing. Very surprising.

It seemed Medlen’s relationship with Force would be a lifelong affair, especially after his son Eric Medlen died in a testing crash while driving for Force three years ago.

One day, maybe the story will come out.
