August 4, 2008 - 9:00 pm
Two Las Vegans have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and slaying of a 17-year-old girl, Las Vegas police said Sunday.
Anne Osburn, 21, and Gabriel Yates, 31, are being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center, police said.
Detectives tentatively identified the victim as a teen who had been reported as a local runaway in May.
Police said the victim recently had been living in an apartment at the International Villas, 4630 Koval Lane, and had not been seen for several days.
Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Lew Roberts was unavailable for comment.
Police received a tip on July 28 and found the girl's body in a shallow grave in a remote desert area south of the Snow Mountain Paiute Indian Reservation and east of U.S. Highway 95 and Kyle Canyon Road.
Police did not release details about the girl's death.
Until there is positive identification and next of kin are notified, the name of the victim will not be released, police said.
Osburn and Yates were scheduled to make their first court appearance today, according to detention center records.
