Two teen girls riding in motor home killed in I-15 crash

Two teenage girls from Utah riding in a motor home died early today when the vehicle's driver struck a tractor trailer while attempting to pass it on southbound Interstate 15, Nevada Highway Patrol officials said.

The two passengers were thrown from the 2008 International-brand motor home after it struck the back end of the big rig.

The driver of the motor home was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempting to pass the tractor trailer near Valley of Fire Road around 5 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Kevin Honea said.

Seven people were inside the motor home at the time of the accident.

The exact ages of the two teens were not disclosed. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers were taken to University Medical Center for undisclosed injuries.
