UNLV gets back on the winning track, blows past Colorado State 70-39
Anthony Marshall and Chace Stenback scored 12 points apiece to lead UNLV to a 70-39 win over Colorado State today at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Marshall also had a season-high 10 rebounds as the Rebels (20-7, 8-5 Mountain West) snapped a three-game losing streak.
Tre'Von Willis and Kendall Wallace added 11 points each for UNLV, which never trailed after jumping out to an 18-2 lead. Seven Rebel players scored during that opening stretch, and UNLV extended the lead to 40-16 by halftime.
Andy Ogide led Colorado State (15-11, 6-6) with eight points and 12 rebounds as the Rams shot just 22 percent (11 for 50) from the field.
That accuracy was even worse in the first half, when the Rams were 4 of 25 (16 percent).
UNLV, meanwhile, was 15 for 26 (58 percent) from the field in the first half and shot 48 percent for the game. The Rebels also converted 8 of 16 3-point attempts.
The Rams were held to two assists in the first half and five for the game. In the second half, the Rams got no closer than 23 points and trailed by 33 late in the game.
UNLV, which swept the season series, was in fourth place in the Mountain West coming into the game, and the Rams fifth. Colorado State also had won four of six games coming into today.
