Vehicle strikes, injures pedestrian in east Las Vegas
A woman was reported in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle Saturday afternoon.
Las Vegas police said they received a call that a pedestrian was struck around Bonanza and Mojave roads about 2:20 p.m.
Witnesses indicated the 23-year-old woman was attempting to cross Bonanza outside of a crosswalk.
A 2004 Ford F-150 traveling east on Bonanza hit the pedestrian when she entered the two-way center turn lane.
She was taken to University Medical Center, where police erroneously said she died. But at 9 p.m., police indicated she was still alive and in critical condition.
A police lieutenant originally reported the crash as a hit-and-run, but the vehicle that hit the 28-year-old woman was discovered nearby when it was involved in another wreck on Bonanza near Pecos Road.
The 68-year-old man driving the Ford was sent to Valley Hospital Medical Center.
Police were still investigating the incident, but early reports suggested the driver had a medical episode.
Bonanza was closed to traffic in both directions west of Mojave.
