Warmer weekend ahead for Las Vegas
While the eastern portion of the country is trapped under feet of snow and icicles, Las Vegas residents will likely be pulling sandals and shorts out of their closets this weekend.
Friday is the last day of what many desert occupants consider “cold” weather, with a high of 62 degrees. On the heels of light rain showers throughout the valley the previous day, Friday morning was overcast with light winds.
The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort in the Spring Mountains recorded a little more than 2 inches of snowfall Thursday.
Saturday’s forecast gives a high of 67 degrees, jumping to an unseasonably warm 69 degrees Sunday.
This weekend last year was more than 10 degrees cooler, a weather service meteorologist said.
There is a low chance of rain for Monday, but that won’t have much effect on valley temperatures, which should be around 67 degrees. Snow is expected in the Spring Mountains, where temperatures will hover around 45 degrees.
