The former day care worker who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a toddler surrendered to authorities in District Court today.

Alica Wegner turned herself in at Judge Michelle Leavitt's courtroom this morning. She was facing a retrial in the death of 14-month-old Kierra Harrison, a toddler who died two days after being in Wegner's care.

Authorities said Kierra died from blunt force trauma.

GMTCare is accused of dropping actor and sumo wrestler Taylor Tuli Wily while he was in a wheelchair in 2023, causing fatal injuries after Wily hit his head on the pavement, according to a lawsuit filed by his estate.
