Woman guilty of manslaughter in shooting death of boyfriend

RENO -- A Reno-area woman has pleaded guilty in the shooting death of her boyfriend during her birthday celebration.

Cynthia Bucher of Sun Valley pleaded guilty Friday to voluntary manslaughter in the May 16 death of 46-year-old Danny Gossen.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported the 51-year-old Bucher faces up to 10 years in prison when she's sentenced May 17.

Witnesses said Bucher described Gossen as suicidal following the death of his wife and child in a car crash.

Bucher said he placed her hand on a gun he pointed at his forehead and asked her to kill him. She pulled the trigger.

But authorities said Bucher was upset that Gossen thought it was funny to extinguish cigarettes on her legs, which left burns. They were fighting about it before the shooting.
