Woman injured, dog killed in southeast valley pit bull attack

A woman was hospitalized after two pit bulls attacked her while she was walking her dogs in the southeast valley Monday night, Las Vegas police said.

The woman was walking her two small dogs in the 4800 block of Mountain Valley Road, near McLeod Drive and Tropicana Avenue, about 6 p.m. when the two pit bulls attacked.

The pit bulls killed one of the woman’s dogs before a passerby saw the incident and chased the canines off by throwing bricks at them, police said.

The woman, who police said was about 40 years old, suffered several bites to her arm and was transported to the hospital with what police called moderate injuries.

Police and animal control located the two dogs in a nearby backyard where they were caught by animal control officers.
