A 39-year old California woman who was killed in a single-car accident on Interstate 15 near the Sloan exit on Wednesday has been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Blanca P. Estelas of Santa Ana, Calif., was riding in the third row of a silver 2006 Dodge SUV as it was northbound on the interstate. The left-rear tire on the vehicle failed, causing the vehicle to spin, leave the road and overturn.
Estela, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A 9-year-old girl who was riding in the third row of the vehicle was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center.
Trooper Loy Hixson said the girl was in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
The four other passengers in the car were taken to UMC with nonlife-threatening injuries.
