Workers to be transferred, put on leave during building search

CARSON CITY -- A pigeon problem at a leased building in Carson City is forcing the Nevada Division of Insurance to find new office space.

Administrators don't know whether the ill effects experienced by workers are from pigeons that nested in the building's heating and cooling system, or a product containing grapeseed oil used to get rid of the birds.

The oil aggravates the mucous in pigeons, as well as people.

Chief of Staff Robin Reedy on Tuesday said about 75 people work in the office, and some will be transferred to other locations until a new building is ready.

Others will be on paid leave until the new office is up and running.
