Young girl dies in North Las Vegas shooting

An 8-year-old girl died tonight after being shot at a North Las Vegas home.

North Las Vegas police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said the girl was shot at 10:46 p.m. in a home on the 2100 block of Sun Avenue near Civic Center Drive and Cheyenne Avenue. Bedwell said the girl lived at the home with her parents, who were home at the time of the shooting.

Bedwell said the shots came from outside the home, which police say was the target of the shooting. The girl was hit at least once and taken to University Medical Center where she died about 11:40 p.m. Police are not releasing information about the suspect at this time.
