Berkley, Titus support witches’ brew of taxation

To the editor:

By voting "yes" on the climate bill, Reps. Shelley Berkley and Dina Titus have done their bit to pass this veritable witches' brew of pseudoscience, taxation and disposable income loss. If and when it is implemented, it will harm Nevada more than most states.

Now the ball passes to Harry Reid's court in the U.S. Senate. Before allowing his strings to be completely pulled by the far-left elements of the Democratic Party, I would feel more comfortable if he would go public and answer some very simple questions to assure us he understands the science involved.

1. Do you agree with most scientists that there were previous ice ages -- three, in fact?

2. Where did the ice go and what made it melt?

3. Were those sneaky cavemen building coal-fired power plants?

4. Were they taking off all too frequently to Disney Cave in large, black SUVs?

5. Can we be assured we are not in the warming cycle of another interglacial period?

Will he go public and tell us electricity and motor fuel costs will not rise above the rate of inflation if this bill becomes law?

Please, senator, speak up. I've tried several times to leave this message on your "Call Harry Reid" phone number, and no one has ever called me back.

Train ride

To the editor:

First there was Dumb Rail, Part 1, the Las Vegas Monorail. It was a huge boondoggle, losing money faster than a tourist at a slot machine.

Now there's DesertXpress, a really ridiculous concept. That was highlighted by your reporter Benjamin Spillman, completely ignoring fully one-half of the transportation equation: People such as me who often drive to Southern California. So I take the train to Victorville. And then what? Am I expected to rent a car there, or get on a Greyhound bus and then call a taxi to reach my destination?

Dumb. Really dumb.

Smooth criminals

To the editor:

Michael Jackson was famous for his childlike behavior, out of control spending and living on borrowed funds with little hope of paying off his debt. Sound familiar?

Our elected officials in Washington have been foisting "Michael Jackson economics" upon the American people for quite some time now.
