Big Labor got its Christmas present Wednesday when its stooges on the National Labor Relations Board gave the go-ahead for “ambush” organizing elections that union bosses hope will reverse decades of declining membership.
It is troubling to see what is occurring in Washington with regard to the confrontation brewing over the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Gregory Jaczko and the way some in Congress are seeking to politicize Jaczko’s efforts to toughen the agency’s oversight of nuclear power safety and security in light of what occured at Fukushima, Japan.
Winter is the perfect time to tend to your deciduous trees and shrubs. These plants, which lose their leaves, are easier to prune now that their structure is clearly visible. Pruning during winter dormancy is less stressful, allowing the plant to store energy for strong spring blooms and fruit production. Winter pruning is crucial for the health and longevity of deciduous shade trees and many spring-blooming shrubs.
